About Google / Gmail verification
Google often asks for a phone number when you create a Google Account. One Google Account covers Gmail, YouTube, Google Drive and the Play Store, so a virtual number for Google is useful when you want a separate Gmail address for work, a YouTube channel kept apart from your personal profile, a test account for an Android app you are building, or simply to keep your personal phone number off another account.
Choose a country in the dashboard, type the number into Google's verification screen, and your Google verification code appears in the dashboard as soon as the SMS arrives. You are charged only once the code is delivered, and nobody else gets the same number during your activation. Since the number is only yours for that one code, add your own recovery email before you finish. Use it for your own accounts and follow Google's terms.

Tips for a smooth Google verification
- If Google says the number cannot be used for verification or has been used too many times, cancel it and try another country. You are not charged for a number without a code.
- Type only the digits. The G- part of the message is a label, not part of the code.
- Do not keep this number as your recovery phone or for 2-Step Verification. Add your own recovery email and a passkey or authenticator app once the account is open.
- Finish the whole sign-up in one session, since the number is only reserved until its timer runs out (up to about 20 minutes).
Private temporary number vs free public inbox
Free public inboxes are fine for a quick test, but every code sent to them is public. A private number keeps the sign-up code to you; for an account you will log in to again, add your own number or email and turn on two-step verification right after, or rent a number.
Private number
- One buyer per number for that activation
- The code shows only in your dashboard
- Pay only if the code arrives
- For one verification, up to about 20 minutes
Free public inbox
- Shared: anyone can read the messages
- Codes sent to it are public
- Numbers are often already used or blocked
- Free, with no account needed
Google / Gmail number FAQ
What does a verification number for Google / Gmail cost?
Google numbers cost from $0.20 to $1.38 today, with a median of $0.28 across 202 countries. The cheapest right now are United States ($0.20), United Kingdom ($0.20) and Canada ($0.20). Prices update several times a day, and you only pay if the code arrives.
Which country is best for Google / Gmail verification?
The cheapest well-stocked countries for Google right now are United States, United Kingdom and Canada; if one number is turned away, try another country.
What if my Google OTP never arrives?
Not every number gets a code. If yours does not, you are not charged: the price is only held while you wait, and it goes back to your wallet automatically when the timer ends. You can also tap Cancel & refund after a few minutes and try another number.
How long do I have to receive the Google code?
Up to about 20 minutes per number; the timer on your number shows exactly how long. When a code comes, it usually arrives within a minute or two, but not every number gets one, because some apps turn certain numbers away. If nothing comes, the hold is refunded and you can try another number or country.
Is this a temporary number for Google / Gmail?
Yes, and a private one: the number is yours alone for one Google verification, for up to about 20 minutes, and the code shows only in your dashboard. Free public inboxes are different: anyone can read the messages there.
Can I receive a second code or log in again later?
The number is meant for one verification within its window, so finish signing up in one go. If you need to log in again later or receive codes over weeks, rent a number instead.
Why does Google say the number is not valid or blocked?
Apps sometimes turn away certain number ranges, even real SIM numbers. If that happens, tap Cancel & refund and get another number or pick a different country. You are not charged for a number that never received a code.
Are these real SIM numbers?
Most of our numbers are real SIM numbers, and a few are virtual. If an app refuses a number, cancel it for a refund and try another country.
How do I pay?
Create a free account, then top up your wallet from $10 by card, crypto or the other methods shown at checkout. Numbers are paid from that balance, and unused balance stays for later numbers: it never expires, but it cannot be withdrawn. The price is held when you take a number and only charged once the Google code arrives.
Is it allowed to use a virtual number for Google / Gmail?
Use our numbers only for your own accounts, and follow Google's terms and the law where you live. Temp Number is not affiliated with Google / Gmail.
Does one code cover Gmail and YouTube?
Yes. Gmail, YouTube and the rest of Google share one Google Account, so one verification during sign-up covers all of them. YouTube may ask for a phone check again later to unlock features such as longer uploads.
Why does Google ask for a phone number at all?
Google uses phone checks to cut down on spam and automated sign-ups. Sometimes the step can be skipped; when it cannot, you can receive the code here.
